Halton among most obese areas in England

NEW figures name Halton as one of the worst areas in England for obesity rates - with more than a third of adults believed to be affected.

Halton had the thirteenth highest proportion of adults estimated to be living with obesity in 2023/24.

The borough's rate was 36 per cent - just 2.8 per cent behind England's worst-hit area of West Lindsey in the East Midlands.

Elsewhere in Cheshire, the proportion of adults with obesity in Warrington was 29.6 per cent, while in Cheshire West and Chester it was 28.2% - down by two per cent on the previous 12-month period - and 25.5 per cent in Cheshire East.
