£222k theft carer spared jail term

A WOMAN who stole more than £222,000 from an elderly relative she was meant to be caring for has been spared jail.

Rebecca Culley, 34, appeared at Chester Crown Court where she was handed a 20-month sentence, suspended for two years.

The court was told Culley had been assisting and caring for the victim since 2021, giving her full access to his financial accounts. Between 2021 and 2023, she transferred more than £222,800 from those accounts into her own without his knowledge or permission.
