WHAT was once a popular gastropub fronted by celebrity chef Andrew Nutter will be converted into a nursery.

Former gastropub to become nursery

A view of the Bird In Birtle pub, Heywood.

The Bird at Birtle was relaunched under the Nutter banner back in 2016 after a £1m makeover.

The Nutter family sold the eatery last year so that Andrew's mum could retire. The pub, previously known as Bird i'th Hand, had sat derelict for years in the village of Birtle until the family gave it a revamp.
