Hornets Women’s coach Ben Bird has praised his squad for the giant strides they have made in recent months.

Bird's buoyed by Hornets progress

With the men’s team out of action for three weeks, the women took centre stage at The Hive last weekend where they beat Wigan St Judes 64-4.

And Bird said it represented terrific progression from the squad.

“We had three Hornets old girls come back in today and they did add a lot to us but I think in our own right we're developing,” he said.

“We had a bit of a sketchy week last week at Ashton where we were a bit hit and miss. There was a lot missing from last week's performance but I think we put a lot right today so I’m really made up with it, every aspect of our game was a world away from last week.”
