Due to torrential rains in the hilly and plain areas, the water level in the Sutlej and Beas rivers is continuously rising. The increase in the flow of water at Harike Head, Irrigation Department, released about 25000 cusecs of Harike Headwork’s towards Hussainiwala Head. ‘Water overflowed from Sutlej and entered the fields.’

After the release of water from Harike Head, the Sutlej is overflowing in many villages on the way and entering the fields. Due to the break of a temporary dam, hundreds of acres of crops have been submerged. The villagers blame them for building the temporary dam, which has broken due to the rising water level of the Sutlej. Due to which about 2000 acres of paddy crop have been affected. Earlier, this temporary dam had saved the farmers’ crops from the surge of the Sutlej River twice at different times. But this time, hundreds of acres of crops have been submerged in water due to the break of this dam. The current water situation may make it difficult for the farmers to sow wheat in this area.
