Instagram reels, are quite popular among the young generation and had gained popularity too. The reels are more engaging and dynamic in nature as it contains both audio and visual effects. However, this form of entertainment is increasingly becoming a big source of disinformation-false information that is intentionally created and spread to mislead or manipulate audiences.

A good example of disinformation on Instagram Reels, which is wide spread these days is the videos promising government jobs with minimal qualifications and exorbitant salaries. These reels often present fabricated notifications or edited government websites, claiming openings in reputed departments such as the Indian Railways, SSC, or Defense Services. They typically urge users to "apply quickly" via dubious links or third-party apps. In reality, these postings often serve to collect personal data or generate traffic to monetized platforms. Such content exploits the aspirations of unemployed youth, especially in rural and semi-urban regions, under the guise of opportunity.
