Sy is op 25 Februarie 1936 in Kimberley gebore en het daar skoolgegaan, en tot met haar aftrede as boekhoudster gewerk. Sy is in 1958 met Robert Weenink getroud en die egpaar het twee seuns, Nico en Leon en De Swardt spog met vier kleinkinders. Leon woon in Australië en het sy moeder op haar verjaardag met 'n besoek verras. Familielede uit Nieu-Zeeland, Kanada en Spanjé het al vroegdag geskakel om geluk te wens.
