The Department of Transport conducted a safer back-to-school campaign in the city last Thursday, focusing on transport compliance and the roadworthiness of vehicles.

The operation resulted in 24 scholar transport vehicles being impounded.
The campaign targeted vehicles transporting learners to and from schools in and around the city.
According to the department, the impounded vehicles included four seven-seaters, 20 minibuses and one discontinued vehicle. One driver was also issued with a summons for transporting passengers in a light delivery vehicle.
