DA welcomes 2025 matric results

The DA has welcomed the 86.15% pass rate achieved by the Class of 2025 in the National Senior Certificate exams, but called for more focus on gateway subjects and foundational learning.

DA Limpopo education spokesperson, Jacques Smalle said in a media release that the results represent a significant improvement on some of the poor results the province has achieved in the past.

According to Smalle, only 42.6% managed to achieve bachelor passes, this remains below the national average. The performance of special needs education learners should also be commended - of the 224 learners who wrote, 208 passed, the party said.

"It is encouraging that five schools have managed to achieve a 100% pass rate from 2021 to 2025, however it is a cause for concern that nine schools achieved less than a 40% pass rate.
