Tannie Elsie Viviers (93) gesels land en sand met haar gaste terwyl sy heerlik sit en tee drink. Rondom haar lê dosyne gebreide poppies - elkeen uniek, en elkeen met liefde, naalde en wol geskep.
In die afgelope 10 jaar het tannie Elsie al meer as 5 000 poppies gebrei en dit aan Stop Trafficking of People (STOP), 'n organisasie sonder winsbejag wat bewusmaking oor mensehandel doen, geskenk.
"Ek was al besig om soortgelyke poppe te brei toe Erika Faul, die koördineerder van die poppiebreiprojek, vra of ek vir Stop kan brei. Nadat sy in 2015 gevra het, het ons amptelik begin tel - en nou staan ons op meer as 5 000 poppies," vertel sy.
