MOWBRAY, WYNBERG POLICE SHOW THEIR 'LEADER' CONCEPTION

- NAMHLA MONAKALI

Police empower girls

In a powerful display of community engagement, police officers from Mowbray and their Wynberg counterparts joined forces with Femmove to organise a dynamic workshop aimed at empowering young women.

Held at Bertha House in Main Road, Mowbray, the event brought together Lt Col Cleo Arnoldus, Const Xolani Mko and Sgt Halgernon Jacobs in a safe space of connection, growth and dialogue.

The workshop tackled critical issues such as bullying, gender-based violence (GBV), self-discovery and confidence building, topics that remain deeply relevant in South African communities.

Will Sona optimism translate to real change?

While President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke of a strengthening rand, falling inflation, and renewed investor confidence during his State of the Nation Address (Sona) at Cape Town City Hall on Thursday 12 February, many of us woke up the next morning to a far less reassuring reality: dry taps, rising living costs, unemployment queues, and neighbourhoods where safety cannot be taken for granted.
