What council cuts are being made?

At the last full meeting of Renfrewshire Council we discussed the Accounts Commission's Best Value Audit report on how the council is performing.
It was a bit of a mixed bag with some issues being highlighted that we could do better on. The issue over the lack of transparency on what services are being reduced due to council cuts was mentioned.
I have raised this myself at council meetings as I don’t think the SNP administration is clear enough when telling the people of Renfrewshire what services are being cut in order to balance the books.
It will be interesting to see if they act on this point raised by the commission. I hope so as people need to know what is happening with their money and services.
One other thing mentioned was that the council should be exploring how we can work more with other local councils and share some services.
This would hopefully drive down costs and provide better services.
In my own personal view, there are too many councils in Scotland. For a country the size of Scotland, 32 councils all basically doing the same thing seems to me a bit excessive.
I don’t want to go back to large councils like Strathclyde, but, after 30 years of the current system, it is maybe worth having a look at.
