We're fighting for major land reform

Paisley Daily Express

BY WEST SCOTLAND MSP ROSS GREER

A majority of private land in Scotland is owned by a tiny proportion of the population - just over 400 people.

This motley group of billionaires, aristocrats and mystery owners based in Caribbean tax havens have a stranglehold over most of Scotland.

That desperately needs to change.

To put the power back in the hands of the people, the Scottish Greens want to dramatically change Scotland’s outdated, archaic system of land ownership.

To do this, I’ve proposed a package of major changes to the Land Reform bill currently making its way through parliament.

The aim is to put more land in the hands of local communities, taking it away from super-rich elites who exploit it for their personal gain, often as shooting estates.

Think rich one-tray dinners, hearty pies and slowly simmered dishes that fill the house with good smells and make the dark evenings feel brighter. These are recipes you don’t want to rush, perfect for settling in after a long day. Add a cosy pudding and you've got all you need for the week ahead.
