But the tide is turning. An increasing number of young women are discovering the profession.
Brooke is only 20 years old, and enjoys going out on the boat, even though she’s not a morning person.
Alongside her work as a nail technician, she also makes a living hauling in shellfish off the Isle of Skye, and has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.
