Plans approved to turn office space in tourist hub

Plans to transform an office building in Paisley town centre into a 16-unit aparthotel have landed the seal of approval from Renfrewshire Council.

An application for planning permission for the upper floors of the site in Glasgow Road - submitted by Dunfermline-based company Chapel Street - has been granted subject to conditions.

The development will involve internal alterations to create self-contained accommodation units, each consisting of a living and sleeping area, kitchenette and en-suite bathroom.

A design and access statement explained: "An aparthotel combines the services of a traditional hotel with the self-contained living space of an apartment.

"Units typically offer a kitchenette or full kitchen, allowing guests to prepare meals if desired, while still benefiting from hotel amenities such as reception and housekeeping."
