Summer of fun for everyone

As summer begins, Sma’ Shot Day is just around the corner.

The annual celebration of the historic victory of local weavers will take place in Paisley on Saturday and includes the Sma’ Shot Day parade, live entertainment and the Burning of the Cork. It’s a fantastic event and I hope to see you there.

Last month, the Accounts Commission, the body which audits all Scottish councils, published their findings on Renfrewshire's recent Best Value Report.

This was a very positive report overall, which reflects the quality of work being done across the organisation.

Some of the key points the commissioners noted included praise for our positive working culture, community engagement, and financial management, which will be important given the cost pressures being faced by all councils in the years ahead.

They also recognised the scale and ambition of our capital programme, which includes major investment in schools, housing and more over the next few years.
