School support service making a difference

More than 100 people have been helped through Renfrewshire’s school support service to secure financial gains totalling in excess of £400,000 in the last year, writes Jack Thomson, Local Democracy Reporter.

The figures, which were outlined in a report to the Fairer Renfrewshire sub-committee on Wednesday, were described as “really strong” by a council official.

It was confirmed the project run by Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureauwhich offers families free and confidential advice on money, debt, benefits, housing and employmenthelped 103 clients achieve a combined £415,884 in 2024/25.

Annabelle Walter, the council's connected communities manager, said at the meeting: “There's some positive client financial gain around the school support service within the paper.
