Saints make their point... but it's a real hard watch at the SMISA

Little to excite home support but Robbo's side off the mark

- Colin Paterson

St Mirren notched up their first Premiership point of the season in a game which generated more questions than answers.

In difficult conditions on Saturday, Motherwell were the better side although neither team created an abundance of chances.

The Buddies appeared disjointed and - following the arrival of 10 new signings this summer - plenty of time will be needed on the training pitch at Ralston to mould this outfit into shape.

However, there were positives as Stephen Robinson's men got off the mark in this season's top flight and kept a clean sheet.

Indeed, this was the sort of match that ended in a 1-0 defeat last term - as it did when the Steelmen visited the SMISA Stadium last December.

No such heartbreak on this occasion but very little for the black-and-white army cheer throughout.

Saints made two changes to the side which narrowly lost 1-0 at reigning champions Celtic in their Premiership opener.
