Nursery kids and staff praised by inspectors

Positive report Hillview early learning and childcare centre got the thumbs up from inspectors

A Paisley nursery’s “positive and welcoming ethos” has been praised by the education watchdog after a recent inspection.

A team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited Hillview early learning and childcare centre (ELCC) in May when they spoke with parents, carers and young people while working closely with the manager of the facility and staff.

On a six-point scale where one is unsatisfactory and six is excellent, the Blackstoun Road facility was rated as four - or 'good' - for its learning, teaching and assessment, and also rated as 'four' for securing children’s progress.

During the visit, the inspectors commented on areas of strength which were outlined in their report.

It noted children were “happy” and enjoyed their time at nursery and praised the staff.

The watchdog’s report read: “Children show high levels of respect and kindness to each other when learning through play.”
