Last month, I was able to visit Augean - a company based in Paisley - that offers highly-specialised treatment, recycling, recovery and disposal services for hard-to-handle wastes.

Site visit Alison Taylor MP with Diageo's Kyle Macintyre at the Shieldhall plant

I met with staffincluding CEO Richard Brooke; general manager Jamie Wilson; site chemist Marc Ferguson; and Paul Shields, the maintenance engineer - to hear about their roles and ambitions for the Augean Paisley site, which is one of 22 across the UK.

During the visit, I was told about their Future Industrial Services which provides specialist industrial services to critical sectors in the Central Belt, and how they manage hard to handle wastes at their permitted Paisley facility.

We discussed the future of the North Sea, tackling waste crime and renewing port infrastructure on the Clyde.

As well as private contracts, Augean also has government contracts and these include HM Naval Base Clyde at Faslane and RNAD Coulport.
