Ferguslie Cricket Club began their latest crammed weekend with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Prestwick in round 14 of their Western Premiership One campaign.

Fan-tastic support as community turn out to see Ferguslie

The visitors batted first, and an opening half-century stand looked promising, but the introduction of Etienne Jewell into the bowling attack proved decisive.

In only his second over, he took two wickets in two balls to change the whole complexion of the match.

His pace proved a handful for Prestwick and he claimed two further victims, in quick succession, to leave them at 87/4.

Thereafter, wickets fell at regular intervals to see Prestwick bowled out for only 192.

In reply, Ferguslie lost a wicket with the opening delivery but Adam Tahir and Uzair Ahmad repaired the damage with a stand of 63.

And when Mo Mayet came to the crease to replace the former, both batters scored half-centuries with skipper Taimoor Ahmad helping knock off the remaining 50 runs needed to win with ease.
