Drop in number of new homes completed
Paisley Daily Express
|October 01, 2025
The number of new homes being completed in Scotland fell by six per cent in the year to the end of June 2025.
The latest quarterly housebuilding figures also showed a three percent decrease in the number of new homes being started over the same period.
The private sector built 14,274 homes and the social sector constructed 4,595.
In terms of starts, building work on 12,247 was started by the private sector and 2,955 homes by the social sector.
The Scottish Government has set the target of delivering 110,000 affordable homes by 2032.
But a report earlier this year said there is pessimism in the housebuilding sector around that being met.
