Demolition plans will increase social space

Proposals to demolish old housing stock in Paisley as part of a major regeneration programme have been published by Renfrewshire Council.

A total of 11 blocks are due to be knocked down at Ladyburn Street, Howard Street and McKerrell Street in the Seedhill area of the town.

Once the land in question is cleared, the local authority could use it to create a new community space as it progresses its significant renewal project.

Officers have set out how demolition of the 1960s three-storey buildings would be carried out - covering the sequence of works, disconnecting utilities and putting up fencing - as part of an application for prior notification and prior approval.
