Congestion charge plan is insult

The SNP’s plan to impose a congestion charge on people driving into Glasgow is a huge insult to Paisley residents.

- BY WEST SCOTLAND MSP PAM GOSAL

Congestion charge plan is insult

Driven to distraction A congestion charge exists in London with a similar scheme being considered by Glasgow City councillors

The council in the city wants people driving in for work, medical appointments or just to see family and friends to pay for the privilege.

It is the latest action by the anti-car nationalists which is completely unfair, unimaginative and unnecessary.

I have launched a campaign to stop it and I urge anyone in and around Paisley who also opposes it to get involved.

It is not just the charging for entering the city boundary that risks hitting people here in the pocket.

Their desire for a charge for using the Clyde Tunnel is equally wrongheaded and needs a rethink.
