Chilly day out for Ferguslie as they warm up in city

Ferguslie Cricket Club got their 2025 season underway after the long winter break when they made the trip to Edinburgh South on Saturday.

This was loosely termed a "warm up" match on a day when the temperature hardly reached double figures - certainly in the earlier part of the day when the capital city side took advantage of winning the toss by batting first.

The visitors were minus many of their recognised first XI who were absent for injury and personal reasons, and thus the Paisley team had a young look to it.

The hosts went off at an impressive rate with both openers - Rajagopal (45) and Holey (41)-sharing a half-century partnership before skipper for the day, Qasim Khan, split them with a sharp caught-and-bowled capture when it looked like being a long day for the visitors in the very cold conditions.
