Cancer waiting times disgraceful

Scotland's NHS is blessed with immensely clever and hardworking medics who provide incredible care to those who need it.

But the speed of treatment can often be the difference between life and death, and that is where the SNP government is badly failing cancer patients.

New official data reveals that one in three cancer patients in Scotland don't begin to receive treatment within the government's own target time of 62 days.

Behind this bleak statistic are real people who know that every day of delay reduces their survival chances.

In 2021, then health secretary Humza Yousaf unveiled the SNP government's post-Covid NHS Recovery Plan. Backed by Nicola Sturgeon, it has failed patients by almost every measure.
