Bus firm billionaires pledge cash to Labour

The billionaire owners of McGill's Buses have reportedly pledged a six-figure donation to Scottish Labour.

Brothers Sandy and James Easdale are backing Scottish Labour Buses Councillor Alison Ann-Dowling is part of the Better Buses campaign.

Sandy and James Easdale are understood to have offered a substantial donation to Anas Sarwar's party, saying they want to help remove the SNP from power.

And the Labour leader says the pair did not make any policy demands of the party - despite it being the biggest provider of bus transport in the local area.

The news comes months after party members in Renfrewshire advocated for taking public transport, including buses, back into public ownership with the Better Buses campaign.
