Boost for Lochwinnoch RSPB nature reserve

Plans to boost the biodiversity value of wetland at RSPB Lochwinnoch nature reserve have been given the go ahead by Renfrewshire Council, writes local democracy reporter Jack Thomson.

The conservation charity has been granted planning permission, subject to conditions, for the project at an area known as Calder Marshes.

It aims to make the habitats as "good as they can be for wildlife," according to a supporting statement, and create conditions for a wider range of species.

Dan Snowdon, of RSPB Scotland, said: "We are really grateful to have received funding from the Scottish Government's nature restoration fund to deliver this work to enhance the Calder Marshes at Lochwinnoch.
