All's fair in love and bowling as couple lead the way at rival clubs

Meet the Linwood couple battling to be bowling’s best under the same roof - and ensuring the sport goes from strength to strength.

The husband-and-wife duo of Allan and Irene Edminston are in the key roles at their respective bowling clubs.

Allan is president of Linwood Bowling Club while Irene is president of Woodlands Bowling Club.

Despite heading up operations at the different clubs, Irene says she and Allan look to bounce ideas off one another about what works or not.

They didn’t plan on taking up the sport until they retired, however, fell into it a lot sooner than they were expecting due to members being sought at both clubs.

Now, 11 years on and having taken the presidents’ offices, Irene says they still enjoy the sociable aspect of their clubs.
