350-year-old 'travel guide' is uncovered at book shop

A rare and old book dating back almost 350 years has been uncovered in Paisley.

Les Six Voyages de Jean Baptiste Tavernier - translated to 'The Six Voyages of John Baptista Tavernier' - is a book that details John Baptista Tavernier’s adventures throughout Turkey and the East Indies during the 17th century.

Published in 1679, the book was released to the public the same year that the Habeas Corpus Act, the act which solidified its importance in preventing unlawful imprisonment, was created by the English Parliament.

And a copy of the journal, which was sold in Scotland, has landed in Paisley book store Abbey Books.
