Honour killing ruled out in student's death

The mysterious death of Sangita Parida, a Plus 3 college student from Kathiapada village under Pattamundai police limits, was a case of self-immolation and not an honour killing, Kendrapara Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kataria told the mediapersons Tuesday.
The SP said postmortem, viscera and forensic (FMT) reports confirm she died of burn injuries, with about 95 percent burns, and indicate the act occurred between 8am and 10 am August 6. CCTV footage shows her parents left home at about 7:14am and returned around 11am.
