'Embracing Odisha's hockey heritage to empower talent'

Pascal Kina brings over two decades of experience to Vedanta Kalinga Lancers as Technical and Strategy coach in the new Hero Hockey India League season

You've coached across several continents with both men's and women's teams. How do you plan to bring that diverse international experience to the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers setup?

Well, like I said, I've coached a lot of teams - more men's teams, though I did work with a national women's team for six years. Over the years, I've learned that each environment teaches you new tactics, discipline, or team dynamics. I watched all the Kalinga Lancers' games last year, my son Antoine Kina was playing for them. I could clearly see a few areas where we can make real improvement but I wouldn't say it's easy. With the new players we've brought in, we now have the opportunity to address those areas and strengthen it. I'll bring all my experience and knowledge to the team.

The Kalinga Lancers have emphasised building a strong local identity rooted in Odisha's hockey culture. How do you plan to integrate local talent into your overall strategy?
