TRIP TO PORTUGAL ENDS WITH A GOALLESS DRAW
Nottingham Post
|August 01, 2025
FOUR friendlies down, three more to go for Nottingham Forest before the serious action begins.
The Reds brought the curtain down on their trip to Portugal with a drab 0-0 draw with Estoril at the Estadio de Sao Luisare on Wednesday night. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are yet to register a win and have scored only one goal in their summer outings to date.
Their latest run-out wasn't exactly a gripping encounter - preseason games rarely are - but the Forest head coach will still be able to take plenty from it.
Below is a look at some of the talking points from the game.
Squad gaps
Switzerland international Dan Ndoye has put pen to paper from Bologna - and how the Reds need him. Their wide ranks desperately need strengthening.
The lack of width against Estoril was telling. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jota Silva, the two remaining wingers in the squad, brought some energy to proceedings in the second half but Forest were still fairly narrow.
Ndoye should turn out to be an excellent bit of recruitment. Beating Napoli to his signature is a real statement from the Reds, following on from Morgan Gibbs-White agreeing a new deal.
