Tributes to boy, 16, who died in swimming tragedy at lake

FLORAL tributes have been left at a Nottingham park where a 16-year-old died while swimming in a lake.

Emergency services were called to Colwick Country Park at 5.20pm on Wednesday, after the boy got into difficulty while swimming in West Lake.

A police underwater search team, assisted by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, found his body shortly before 8pm. Balloons, flowers and cards were left at the edge of the lake yesterday, with one written message stating: “Gone too soon.”

Flowers were left in memory of the boy, who has been identified but is yet to be named publicly.

Police said the boy’s family are being supported by specially trained officers following the incident.
