Teenage machete attacker to serve more than six years in custody

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been locked up over a “ferocious” machete attack in St Ann’s that left the victim unable to use his hands.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had become involved in selling Class A drugs when he attacked Ellis Bishop on November 24 last year.

The sentencing for the boy took place at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday, iwith Judge Nirmal Shant KC presiding.

The hearing was told that Mr Bishop, in his 30s, had gone to an address in Cranmer Street when the teenager answered the door and came at him with the machete.

The ensuing attack saw Mr Bishop struck at least 15 times, with the assault beginning in St Ann’s Way and ending outside Framework’s Mechanics House site, in Alfred Street North.

The attack left Mr Bishop with injuries which a Home Office pathol ogist said could have been life-threatening if he had not been treated so quickly at the scene.
