Restaurant and hotel - on a city industrial estate?

PLANS for a new hotel and restaurant - in an industrial estate - have been revealed.

Empty factory and warehouse buildings in Palm Street on New Basford Industrial Estate would be converted into a housing and hospitality complex if plans submitted to Nottingham City Council are approved.

The hotel would have 28 rooms, a restaurant and a new car park, according to the application.

Architects say the applicant, who is named in the application only as Singh, also wanted to create eight workshops with maisonettes above.

The Hawthornes Business Centre site includes four buildings, three of them Victorian former lace factories and the fourth a large, modern steel-framed warehouse fronting Palm Street.

"The development aims to bring life to four unused warehouses, designed to blend residential, commercial and hospitality functions," said city council planners in a report to councillors.
