Prize guy Dennis is aiming to maintain fine start for Notts

MATTHEW Dennis wants to keep improving at Notts County after his impressive start to the season was recognised with August’s League Two player of the month award.

The forward has had a stunning start to his time as a Magpie, bagging five goals and an assist in August while leading the line on his own for the most part to begin the campaign.

Dennis was nominated alongside Harrogate Town’s Stephen Duke-McKenna, Crewe Alexandra's Reece Hutchinson and Tranmere Rovers’ Omari Patrick but it was the Notts man who picked up the first player of the month award of the season.

With the team’s performances and results starting to pick up after a slow start under new boss Martin Paterson, Dennis is eager to keep up his own good form as the Magpies prepare for today’s away game against Gillingham (3pm).

On winning the award, Dennis said: “I feel blessed.
