ADAM: CPS DECIDES AGAINST PROSECUTION
NO criminal charges will be brought against an ice hockey player following the death of Nottingham Panthers star Adam Johnson during a game.
Johnson, 29, died after being hit in the neck by an opponent's skate during a match against Sheffield Steelers at Utilita Arena in Sheffield on October 28, 2023. Matt Petgrave identified himself as the man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter the following month. He was re-bailed a number of times after his initial arrest and launched a fundraising campaign for his legal costs.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has now confirmed it will not bring criminal charges. Michael Quinn, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: "Following a thorough police investigation and a comprehensive review of all the evidence by the CPS, we have concluded that there is not a realistic prospect of conviction for any criminal offence and so there will not be a prosecution."
SPORTS fans often have a list of memorable dates. Unforgettable goals, games, victories and trophy wins are all moments spectators never forget.
