STRONG COMPETITION FOR PLACES NOW IN NOTTS SIDE

- By SAM ALLEN

COMPETITION for places is high at Notts County as they look to continue their strong home form against Oldham Athletic today (3pm).

Head coach Martin Paterson was pleased with the Magpies' performance in midweek, when they beat Barnsley in the Vertu Trophy with a rotated team that did the job and gave their boss plenty to ponder regarding his team selection.

Having won three of their five home League Two matches so far this term, Notts are well-positioned to continue their good run at Meadow Lane.

They face an Oldham side who are unbeaten in four, winning three in a row before drawing last weekend at home against fellow newly-promoted side Barnet.

The teams coming up from the National League now tend to adjust quickly to League Two and the Latics will bring a large away following and a strong challenge for Notts, who want to respond to their defeat last time out in the League, away against Crewe Alexandra.
