Parades and prayers to honour the fallen

A Remembrance Sunday parade at Victoria Embankment

Most services will be held this weekend, on Remembrance Sunday, which commemorates the service of armed forces personnel from Britain and the Commonwealth.

This year, this falls on Sunday, with some events also planned for Armistice Day on Tuesday.

The traditional poppy, usually worn from the last Friday in October until the end of Remembrance Day, is available to buy at most supermarkets, with stalls available in locations including the Victoria Centre.

Below is a list of all the events we are aware of so far. If we have missed any, contact us at newsdesk@not-tinghampost.com

A Remembrance Sunday parade starts at Arnold Victory Club, Church Drive East, at 9.20am, marching to St Paul’s Church, where a service is scheduled for 9.45am. Then attendees will head towards the Cenotaph in Arnot Hill Park, where wreaths will be laid.

A parade will take place on Remembrance Sunday from 10.30am and will include serving personnel from the Royal Engineers, members of the Royal British Legion, 1359 Squadron (Beeston) Air Cadets, 17th Nottingham Boys' Brigade, 30th Nottingham Girls' Brigade, 6th Beeston Rainbows, the Submariners Association and military veterans.

A short service will be held at the war memorial, off Middle Street, including a two-minute silence at 11am, followed by a service at Beeston Parish Church, with those wishing to join the event asked to gather along Middle Street.

Road closures will be in place from 10am to noon on the day, Broxtowe Borough Council said.

A parade will be organised by the Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group and the Hucknall Branch of the Royal British Legion.

It will form at 10am on Sunday at Hucknall Market Place and a service will also be held, including wreath laying and a two-minute silence at the Cenotaph in Titchfield Park.
