Wild Days Forest Lodge Pre-School takes kids outdoors - and doesn't use screens

A NURSERY is going back to basics and going out into the open air to put children off mobile phones.

At Wild Days Forest Lodge Pre-School, Mapperley, the children are taught not to play with phones and conventional toys, but sticks and mud instead.

“The children first learn to play with things such as planks and tyres and rope and branches and tree stumps rather than toys,” said Abi Reddish, who runs the preschool.

“At first, the children need a lot of adult involvement to use the materials safely but also help to spark their imagination.
