No escape for man with knife chased by police to other side of the Trent

A MAN carrying a hunting knife jumped into the River Trent to try and escape police.

Officers were called to Fiskerton, near Southwell, when the man was spotted with a knife near a pub.

When the police arrived, he jumped into the Trent and started swimming towards the other side.

By that point, he had already thrown away the hunting knife.

Officers weren't aware of that, however, and told people on the riverbank to run for cover.
