TRADER SAYS HE NEEDS AT LEAST THREE MONTHS’ NOTICE TO LEAVE
NOTTINGHAM City Council is being told it has “no chance” of emptying a historic market any time soon as its closure could be pushed into next year.
Just five traders remain at the Victoria Centre Market, as the city council begins to increase compensation offers to get them out.
The market has been in the Victoria Centre since the 1970s, but the number of traders has dwindled in recent years, and the council has been accused of running it down.
The Post reported earlier in the year that the council allegedly wanted the market completely empty by the end of October at the latest.
One of the remaining traders now says there is “no chance” of that happening and has requested an exit date of the end of January as the busy festive shopping period approaches. The city council is now said to be considering this date and a decision could be made in the coming days.
