'My son has been to hospital 25 times this year... we need to get out of our mouldy flat'

"I DON'T care about myself anymore, I just want my son to be okay," says Abdulla as he stands over his family's possessions in bin bags.
"He's been to the hospital 25 times this year, I just want to get out of here for his sake, not mine."
After so many hospital trips, Abdula Hamade still doesn’t know what is causing his son’s breathing problems, with doctors telling him he is too young to be diagnosed with mould-induced asthma, yet the family suspect it is related to the mould that appears on their walls daily.
Out of the three rooms in Abdulla’s flat, there is only one that the family of four can sleep in, with Abdula and his partner, Malgorzata Walery, on one air mattress and his two children, Arez and Nareen, aged three and one, on the other.
The family live in the Woodland flats estate in Radford, and, despite being offered alternative accommodation by Nottingham City Council, they claimed it was less appropriate than their current accommodation.
The family’s living situation is classed as overcrowded, as the flat was originally designed for one person.
