Maynard: Salford plan was spot on but fight continues

STUART Maynard said Notts County could not deal with Salford City's athleticism in transition in their disappointing 3-1 defeat at Meadow Lane last Friday.

It was a crushing defeat at home in League Two for the Magpies against a side who have had their number in their two meetings this season. Having been so effective at preventing shots on their goal in recent matches, Notts allowed six shots on target in this one and Salford were ruthless in scoring three.

Maynard felt his team were not as in control on Friday night as they had been previously.

The visitors came with a game plan to rough his team up and counter quickly at turnovers, which turned out to be very effective.

"They went man-for-man and they kept getting around the seconds, which we couldn't deal with," said Magpies head coach Maynard.
