ILLEGAL APPROACH CLAIMS 'VERY DIFFICULT TO PROVE'
THE countdown to the 2025/26 campaign is on now Nottingham Forest have got their preseason firmly up and running.
The Reds drew 0-0 with Chesterfield on Saturday in their first outing of the summer.
With little more than a month to go before the serious action begins, they have some crucial months ahead.
Forest know the importance of getting things right on and off the pitch - as they aim to continue on an upward curve in 2025/26.
Below, we takes a look at the latest goings-on at the City Ground.
GIBBS-WHITE CHALLENGE
The saga of Morgan Gibbs-White attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur has been running for only a matter of days but has already been full of twists and turns. The north London side triggered a £60 million release clause in the Reds ace’s contract last week and a medical was due to take place last Friday.
Forest have now made an official complaint to the Premier League regarding what they consider to be an illegal approach for their player by Spurs. But according to agent Sky Andrew, the Reds might find it difficult to back up those claims.
Andrew said on talkSPORT: “Here’s the thing, guys, it’s very difficult to prove tapping up. It’s very difficult to prove that a club went direct to a player without the permission of a club. We're getting into all sorts of things here - phone records and everything.
“If it goes to arbitration, where it must go within the football rules and regulations, then Forest will have to prove that the club went directly to the player or to the agent. Most clubs know that it is very difficult to prove.
“So, this is a case now of how much will the buying club pay for the player.
“It won't be £60 million, it will probably have to be more.”
