'POOLING OF RESOURCES' AS STRUGGLING CHARITY'S HQ IS SOLD AND SHARED
Nottinghamshire Hospice's HQ at Fernleigh House on Woodborough Road
THE future of Nottinghamshire Hospice has been secured after its headquarters was bought by a college.
Portland College has bought Fernleigh House on Woodborough Road, Nottingham, and will now work in partnership with the hospice.
The hospice, which opened in 1980, will continue to administer its vital end-of-life services from the upper floors, while the college will take over most of the ground floor.
The college offers specialist further education to around 300 16-25-year-olds with special educational needs and will now be able to support a further 30 learners with disabilities.
Hospice chief executive Rachel Hucknall said: "The shape of care has changed considerably since we were founded in 1980 and this building has served our needs admirably over 45 years.
