£500K STUDY WILL LOOK AT HOW TO RECONFIGURE MAID MARIAN WAY
A £500,000 study is to be carried out on how to reconfigure a major Nottingham road.
The demolition of an NCP car park and the redevelopment of the Broad Marsh means the city council has been considering the future of Maid Marian Way.
The Labour-run authority has now confirmed it will commission a study of whether Maid Marian Way could be straightened out at the southern end to the junction with Canal Street.
The remains of the historic Greyfriar Gate could end up disappearing and the pedestrianised Collin Street could then be extended right up to Maid Marian Way.
The study was announced as the council confirmed it had been given more than £16 million of new funding by the East Midlands Combined County Authority for a range of new transport projects.
As well as the Maid Marian Way study, the decarbonisation of Nottingham's buses will accelerate and a range of key junctions will be improved.
