Game on for new £9m factory

FANTASY MINIATURES COMPANY BEGINS WORK ON FOURTH MANUFACTURING BASE

CONSTRUCTION has started on Games Workshop's new Nottingham factory, designed to meet the worldwide demand for its fantasy miniatures.

The manufacturer of the soldiers, monsters and aliens that make up its phenomenally successful Warhammer brand, which announced profits of £261 million this week, was last year given permission to build a £9 million factory at its headquarters in Willow Road, Lenton.

More than 300 staff work around the clock at the site's three factories to produce millions of the popular figures which customers put together themselves but the ever-growing and global demand is outpacing production.

In December, Nottingham City Council approved the firm's plan to knock down the council's old Willow Road transport depot and replace it with a fourth factory, which is expected to open in the summer of next year.
