Forest's latest stadium plans could delay freehold deal

TALKS on Nottingham Forest's purchase of the freehold for its City Ground stadium are said to be “progressing positively” as the wait continues for the club to approve its side of the deal.

The Post recently reported that new plans for the expansion of the Reds' stadium - which members of the public can see at the City Ground today and tomorrow - could delay the formal agreement of the freehold deal with the city council even further.

Nottingham Forest was already given permission for a stadium expansion of around 5,000 by Rushcliffe Borough Council in June, with those plans entailing the demolition and rebuild of the Peter Taylor Stand.

Many believed this would unlock the City Ground freehold plans, with the sale being agreed in principle after months of public dispute between Forest and the city council.
